LEVEL I
Level I Security Officer Training
This State of New Mexico-certified course is designed for individuals pursuing a career in private security. It covers the legal authority and responsibilities of a Level I Security Officer, including:

Use of force continuum & de-escalation techniques

Concepts of search & seizure, legal restrictions, and civil liability

Jurisdiction & limitations of authority

Communication with law enforcement
This 8-hour classroom-based course ensures students meet the requirements outlined in NMSA 1978 61-27B-1 through 61-27B-36 and Rules & Regulations Title 16, Chapter 48, Parts 1-7.

LEVEL III
Level III Security Officer Training
This advanced training course is for security professionals seeking Level III certification in the State of New Mexico. It prepares candidates for armed security roles, emphasizing:

Safe firearm handling, maintenance & function checks

Firearm ballistics & mental preparation for lethal encounters

Handgun marksmanship fundamentals & defensive shooting techniques
-
Loading, chamber checks, de-cocking, & malfunction clearing
-
Handgun retention & threat engagement tactics
This 16-hour training includes classroom instruction, practical hands-on training, range qualification, and scenario-based exercises.
Firearm Qualification Details:

New qualifiers: Must complete 8 hours of classroom instruction and pass a closed-book exam (80% required score).

Requalification: A shortened session with no written exam required.

Range Requirements:

A handgun with police-style duty holster
-
Two magazines & magazine pouches
-
A belt capable of supporting firearm & magazines
-
Ear & eye protection
-
A billed cap/hat to deflect brass
-
200 rounds of ammunition (new qualifiers) / 150 rounds (requalification)

Live ammunition is NOT allowed in the classroom.

Minimum qualification score: 80% (non-waivable).

New shooters with limited handgun experience are encouraged to take an introductory course before attempting qualification.
